LES QUATRE CHENES AVAILABLE JANUARY TO JUNE 2008 FOR LONG LET
Les Quatre Chenes and Starling Lodge are large, exceptionally well equipped holiday houses furnished to a high standard and very definitely not typical French "gites"! Our aim is to provide you with a real "home from home" for your holiday with all mod cons plus additional touches for that extra little bit of luxury, ensuring that you can really relax and unwind.
Les Quatre Chenes (top left) is a former farmworker's house and is situated directly off the main drive. Starling Lodge (top right), originally a huge barn, is accessed via a separate entrance just along the road with a private drive leading directly up to the house. Both houses are dripping with character from every corner, exposed stone walls and massive original oak beams featuring throughout. Les Quatre Chenes dates from 1820 whilst Starling Lodge, dates from as far back as the 16th century. Each house has a private swimming pool, patios, parking and bar-b-que areas.
The two houses were originally part of a working farm owned by one of the most affluent families in Le Fleix. We offer a variety of quality vacation possibilities and cater for families from 4 to 10 people, all sleeping in comfortable bedrooms with no bunk beds, mezzanines or sofa beds.
Bed & Breakfast PLUS!
If full self-catering is not for you, our luxury Bed and Breakfast Plus wing may be just what you need. Three large, en-suite bedrooms with tea and coffee making facilities for your nightcap and early morning cuppa whilst downstairs is the breakfast room and lounge. You are invited to use these rooms throughout the day, relax in the garden and enjoy the grounds.
Le Fleix village is just over 1km and has a small supermarket, post office, petrol station, 2 bakers, butcher, stationer, bar/restaurant and hair dresser. It's a pleasant walk or you may borrow one of our bicycles if you are feeling not quite so energetic.
Ste Foy La Grande, a charming old bastide town set on the River Dordogne with delightful town centre, is 7km and has a superb Saturday market, larger supermarkets and a multitude of other shops and restaurants.
Bergerac is 17 kms and is also an old bastide town set on the river Dordogne and also with a picturesque town centre surrounded by restaurants. There are many shops, boutiques and supermakets here too. The airport is just outside the town and is less than 20 minutes from our house.
